Merry Christmas

Here’s a quick update on what’s been happening at our house this last year.

Taryn (3) loves life and is as active as ever! She loves going to church and play dates with friends. She continues to amaze us with her good health and sharp mind.

Ainsley (6) keeps us laughing. She says something quotable just about every day. She is in 1st grade and enjoys playing with friends and shopping with mom.

Bridget (9) is always looking for ways she can serve others, at home and in her 4th grade class. She enjoys learning new things, adding piano and crocheting to the list this year.

Michaela (12) had a few changes and firsts this year. She survived girl’s camp with the Young Women and really enjoys being part of a great group of girls in our ward. She is now in 7th grade at the junior high, where she is involved in choir, dance, and on the honor roll. The story Michaela wrote for the PTA Reflections contest last school year kept winning awards and went all the way to the state level, where she didn’t win, but placed first!

Parker (15) had an eventful year. He attended the National Boy Scout Jamboree, including a tour of the east coast, for three weeks this summer and had a great time. This fall he added Eagle Scout to his list of accomplishments. He worked really hard to earn money for both and we are proud of him. Parker is a sophomore in high school and looking forward to that glorious day when he can DRIVE!

Michele (old) is still trying to stay on top of things…four kids in three different schools, activities, Relief Society presidency, work, carpools, etc....most days I just keep my head above water! January through July I worked for the 2010 Census and the last few months I have been painting (walls) for hire and working with a friend as her “Assistant”, in addition to my Creative Memories business and teaching classes on digital scrapbooking / photo books.

Kenny (older) has been busy with work this year as the company he works for, PSAV, took on an additional property in Park City that he had to oversee for a number of months. His office is still at the Hilton downtown. He has taken up running and, though he says he doesn’t enjoy it, usually logs about 30 miles a week. Kenny serves as the Cub and Scout Committee Chairman and webmaster in our ward.

We feel very blessed this holiday season! We are grateful for the knowledge we have the Christ lives and is the reason we celebrate this time of year.

Merry Christmas!

Taryn's Cardiology Visit

Taryn had her Cardiology check-up and visit with Dr. Saarel this month. We were able to experience the new Primary Children's Clinic at the Riverton Hospital - love it! Taryn did great, even for x-ray's, which she has always hated. Of course, earning prizes and princess stickers for good behavior helped, but I was still amazed at how well she cooperated. (Too bad I can't "check her in" to be potty-trained!) She continually amazes people who try to guess how old she is, they usually guess 3 or 4 years because of her size and vocabulary. The news....all the test results show that her heart function looks good. Whew! We don't go back again for another year, when she'll have an echo to see how that narrowing in her pulmonary artery looks. So happy for good news!

Merry Christmas!

I had intentions of composing one of those end-of-year Christmas letters updating all who care (anyone?) on the current age, grade, shoe size and favorite things of each member of our family. Reality has set in...that's not going to happen. As you can tell by my lack of actual updates in recent months, things at our house have been more hectic than I can even keep up with and (to keep what sanity I have left) I've had to let a few things go...like updating the blog. Sorry.
I am happy to report that at this time we are all healthy, relatively happy, employed, and doing well. We have been very blessed this year.

We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

They're Back!

Last Thursday we all gathered at the airport to welcome my parents home. For the last 18 months they have been serving an LDS mission in Kazakhstan as the director of Welfare Services.
Waiting for Grandma & Grandpa's plane to arrive.
Dad enjoyed a cold Fresca after 18 months without his favorite soda.

After giving Taryn a big hug, mom had to take a look at her scar since they were gone when she had surgery. Thank goodness for Skype. Taryn was only six months old when they left but she knew her grandparents and even gave them hugs since she was able to talk to and see them at least once a week!

Grandma & Grandpa Nicholas were so excited to see Mom again. Grandpa really missed her.

Mom and Dad are amazing examples to our family. They have sacrificed to serve others and I am so proud of them and glad to have them home...at least until their next mission!
